Nighttime Potty Training

By Paul Jason James

For some children, nighttime potty training can be an easy and smooth transition from their daytime routine.

For these kids, simply being able to conquer bladder control during the day develops their nighttime habits enough that they are able to stay dry the majority of the time.

You may feel frustrated if your child is one of the many who have difficulty maintaining bladder control. But it's not your fault, and certainly not your child's fault. While they may have properly applied daytime bladder control, keep in mind that this is in large part a voluntary process.

At night, however, despite the child's best intentions, sometimes the signal from the bladder to the brain indicating that it is full simply doesn't come through.

For this reason, a positive attitude is a must during nighttime potty training, just as it is during the day. Having a low-stress environment where the child's self-esteem and well being are cared for facilitates the process of developing this communication from bladder to brain in the child.

This means being ready to give positive feedback for every dry night and not holding them responsible for accidents-remember, children have no more conscious control over nighttime potty training than you have over snoring or turning over when you sleep. It simply takes time.

As a parent, you can create a positive atmosphere where both you and the child are taking action while the child is awake. This means limiting evening fluid consumption and checking to make sure they make a final bathroom stop before going to sleep.

Synthetic sheets are also very useful for this as they make cleaning up after an accident a simple matter.

Having a no-fuss attitude about accidents-even if it's in the middle of the night-is an essential aspect of proper nighttime potty training. You may not be thrilled to be up at 4AM changing sheets, but just remember that the child doesn't want to be in that situation anymore than you do.

You can mitigate any feelings of shame or embarrassment by staying cool and collected. Simply change the sheets, help them go to the bathroom one more time, and go back to bed. No big deal.

Successful Potty Training is all about patience and consistent effort that will pay off over time

What You need To know About Baby Shower Cakes

By Cathy Maree

Welcoming the newest member of the family is usually done by hosting a baby shower party for a friend or relative. Even though baby showers were originally meant only for first-born child, modern concepts now tolerate baby shower parties for every baby whether they are the first second or third and even adopted babies that come into the household.

Baby showers are usually prepared and arranged by the relatives and close friends of the parents-to-be. They are a fabulous way to help parents get started with the things that they require for the new baby. Note, however, that there are some cultures and churchgoing notions that do not consider it proper and that it is considered ill luck to have a party and bring baby things in the house before the baby is born.

It is common place now days for a baby shower to have a theme, to which the entire party focuses on. Baby shower essentials typically include shower games, presents, and food. A party is not perfect without a cake, and this also applies to most baby showers.

Cakes are one of the essential things about baby showers, and they can be easily made using assorted standard techniques, such as the following:

1. All-in-together - this is done by placing the dry elements in a food mixer (together with the shortening) before gradually adding the liquid ingredients.

2. Creaming technique - this is by 'creaming' butter and sugar together before gradually adding the rest of the ingredients.

3. Rubbing method - this is completed by 'rubbing' the butter into the dry ingredients before adding the liquid ones.

4. Melt-and-mix - this is done by first mixing the dry ingredients together, adding the liquid butter and the different liquid ingredients later on to finish the cake.

5. Sponge-making - this is done by whisking the eggs and sugar into a froth, with the flour slowly merged in. Making a light sponge cake requires some skill, there are no raising agents or fat involved as it does not use any. Completed cakes are usually heightened with the aid of frosting or toppings such as sprinkles or decorative icing as well as candy pieces.

There are diverse varieties of baby shower cakes to choose from. Many of them are named here such as Angel food Cake, Butter Cake, Butterfly Cake, Carrot Cake, Pound Cake, Spice Cake, Sponge Cake, Cheesecake, Chocolate Cake these are just some of the traditional cakes that can be found at a baby shower party. With some extra inquiry online you will be able to find some very amazing baby shower cakes that are not included here.

Apart from the cake assortments above-mentioned, there are also a lot of baby shower cake ideas that can make a baby shower festivity more special for all the guests and the parents to be:

1. Belly Cake Theme. One great thought is to design a baby shower cake and make it look like a pregnant belly. This can be done by placing a roundish cake in front of a rectangular cake and frosting them together to resemble that of a expectant belly.

2. Toy Blocks Baby Shower Cake. A different thought is to pattern a baby shower cake and make it seem like a child's play cubes (either one large cube or three to four little blocks). Toy block cakes can be even more enhanced by surrounding them with candies or little toy automobiles.

In saying this, you can also experiment and endeavor to come up with constructive themes of your own. Remember that the 'goal' is not simply to make a delicious dessert, but as well a special centerpiece for the table that will stand out in the memories of the parents.

When The Going Gets Rough: Dealing with Potty Training Accidents

By Paul Jason James

If you have been working with your toddler on potty training, you've probably had a good number of "accidents". Accidents in potty training can be discouraging to both child and parent and may make the stretch from diapers seem wider than it really is.

You may feel that you have lost progress when a child suddenly has an accident, but occasional potty training accidents are all part of the process. It may have nothing to do with the success of your technique, but may be the child's reaction to a change, like a trip to a relative's house or a birthday party.

When these accidents happen, there are few things to keep in mind. As with many other challenges in child rearing, a positive attitude is the best weapon against potty training accidents. Try to remove the emphasis from the potty training accident itself and place it on making more progress and remembering successes.

Positive feedback is a much more important tool than making negative statements. Celebrating another dry night is more effective than reminding the child he keeps wetting himself.

If potty training accidents start happening frequently, look to external factors to try and diagnose the situation. Your child may have a medical issue like a urinary tract infection or constipation. Remember, he may not have the words to try explain what's happening or what he feels. He may be putting off going to the toilet because he does not know how to deal with an unfamiliar condition.

Another common reason for regression is the arrival of a sibling. Many couples these days choose to space their kids by about two years. Of course, two is primo potty training time, and you may see a surge in potty training accidents upon the arrival of a newcomer who is suddenly absorbing all parental attention. Respond to this situation with understanding.

Remain firm about your shared goals for potty training, but take time to discuss what's going on and give your child a chance to talk about his thoughts.

Some Information On The legal Process for Adoption

By zindy maseko

The process of adoption is not an easy one for anyone who is not a determined person. The question of suitability is probably the first issue to be dealt with. The task becomes all the more difficult when you consider in the United States, there are federal and state adoption laws, so if you are planning to adopt a child, it is imperative you have a knowledge of federal law and procedure. Because of the complexity of the process, many people are reluctant to adopt, all that is needed however, is an understanding of what is required and expected from adoptive parents in making a successful application.

The term is used for an agreement between one or two adults that become the legal parents of a child,in many, but not all cases, childless couples are matched with orphans. Because it is a legal process, it goes much further than simply making suitable family matches as parental rights and responsibilities are given to the adopting parents, the child can also expect all the rights of a member of his or her new family. These rights extend to the full rights given to any child in a family including those surrounding inheritance.

In the adoption process, before it is finalized, all parties (including the natural parents where possible), must be identified, this process helps to makes it withstand any later claims. The naming of the biological parents can, of course, be problematic and many instances exist where this is not always possible, there are occasions where a child may be a ward of the court or their parents have died. The Adoption of an infant is sometimes because the mother is not an adult and when this occurs, it is not unusual for her parental rights to the child to be terminated, usually at the same time as the adoption process to be completed.

Every applicant planning to adopt must carry out a home study before the request can be approved, this is an obligatory process carried out in every US State. The idea behind this is to ensure that the child is going to be adopted by people that have a safe and secure home for them to grow up in. Part of the home study procedure surrounds background checks on the applicants, they also carefully assess the safety aspect of the home environment plus the medical records of the new parents.

If the home study is in the adoptive parents favor, a child will be matched to them and once this is done, they will only have to wait for the placement to happen. The application is only completed when the judge who deals with family matters has had a chance to carefully inspect all the details gathered about all the parties involved.

The legal process surrounding adoption and laws change regularly, you would be wise to update yourself on any changes in the law before you begin the process to avoid disappointment at a later stage.

What Furniture Does Your Baby's Nursery Need?

By Sonja Marlinio

Every mother-to-be dreams of designing the perfect nursery for their new baby. But, how do you create a perfect nursery? Well, you must start with the furniture that every nursery needs. A crib, changing table, dresser, rocking chair, and a lamp are all items that you and your baby will need during this first year of childhood.

In today's baby furniture market there are many choices of cribs to choose from. Set a budget and get the measurements of the room before you start shopping. Price and the size of the crib are not the only decisions you will be making, so start early so you will have plenty of time to find that perfect crib. You may want the traditional look of a rectangular crib, or go with a unique round crib. Also, some cribs are made to convert into toddler beds and, later, adult beds for lifetime use. Whatever the style or color you choose, just be sure you are buying from an authorized dealer of the brand so all warranties will be in tact. Also, be sure to check if the crib meets or exceeds all Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association and government requirements. Most importantly, all materials should be finished with non-toxic paint and contain no formaldehyde.

With every new baby comes the extra chore of dirty diapers. Several times a day you will need a place for you and baby to comfortably complete this chore. A changing table specifically designed for this purpose is the answer. When you are shopping, ask if the changing pad comes with the table, or if it is priced separately. Decide what items you will be storing in the changing table and take measurements of your space. Many changing tables have shelves, drawers, or a combination of both. When you are shopping, remember you will have one hand holding the baby. So, any drawers or doors that need to be opened must be easy to get into one-handed.

Unless your baby's nursery has built-in cabinets, you will need a dresser. Many times, by purchasing the crib and dresser as a set, you can save money. Decide ahead of time what items you will be storing in the dresser. You will have a choice of dressers with drawers, dressers with side-by-side shelving, or a combination of both. Try opening each drawer one handed, because most of the time you will be holding baby in one hand while you gather items with the other. Some models are very hard to open one-handed. Also, check all warranties and ask about safety features before you buy.

One of the best chores of parenthood is the many hours of rocking and feeding your new baby. This makes a rocking chair in the nursery a very important furniture item. Before you shop, decide what you will be most comfortable in for long periods of time and consider how much space it may take up in the nursery. You have the choice of a traditional rocking chair with an extra comfortable cushion, or the option of a recliner to comfortably put up your feet and rest with your precious new baby.

The lighting in your baby's nursery is very important. When your little one wakes up at four in the morning, the last thing you or your baby want is a bright light. On the other hand, you need enough light to safely move around in the nursery for changing and feeding. A lamp will let off enough light for you, and still keep the room in semi-darkness for a sleepy baby. You have a choice between floor lamps, table lamps, and lamps with several light settings (these last ones require a special bulb that is a little more costly). Just be sure any lamp is safely out of reach once baby starts becoming more adventurous.

However you choose to design and decorate your baby's nursery, nothing will take the place of you being there. Shopping and decorating is an exciting part of welcoming a new baby into our lives, but it is not the most important part. At the end of the day, it's not the furnishings, but the loving and caring touch of you and your family that will make lasting memories for years to come.

Happy Shopping

Baby Showers 101: Baby Shower Gifts

By Charmaine L. Smoot

If you're like most women today, life is a whirlwind. Work, home, community, not to mention family and friends, have all staked their claim to a piece of your day's schedule. It's a wonder that you can find any quality alone time at all!

- Who's the gift for? It's perfectly acceptable to purchase a gift for the mom, such as a beautiful maternity t-shirt, or for the bun in the oven, like a onesie.

- The gender of the recipient - if it's for the baby, is it a boy or a girl?

- The age of the recipient - is the baby shower being held before or after the birth?

- Your budget - how much are you planning on spending?

All new parents welcome clothes for their baby. Come to think of it, all parents welcome the gift of new clothes for their child, even if the child's a teenager! Clothing is expensive, and with kids growing so quickly, they're even more of a budget-challenge. Knowing the child's gender will help you pick an appropriate color when selecting the perfect bootie, onesie, jammies, bibs, blankets, and mittens for the baby shower.

Other basic items such as baby health, grooming, and hygiene products are welcome additions to any mother's baby kit. Diaper bags, babyslings, baby strollers, and other types of carrier items are practical and endlessly useful gifts that are good for both baby and mom. Other items like night lights, mobiles, music boxes, music CDs, and stuffed animals are presents the baby will enjoy immediately and as he or she grows older.

Baby shower gifts can be simple or over-the-top and range in price accordingly. Personalized gifts, for example, tend to cost more than traditional gifts. They may only be found in catalogs, high-end stores, or online. Engraved gifts are usually presented by the baby's grandparents or other close relatives. Examples are sterling silver spoons engraved with the baby's name and date of birth, silver plated baby bookcovers, and silver plates.

Is the baby shower being held after the birth? Then it's important to consider the baby's age. It's always safe to buy clothing a size or so bigger since babies grow so fast and will grow into it. If the gift is for the baby's mother, personal or clothing articles may not be the best gift choice unless the gifter knows her preferences well.

What season is the baby expected or, if it's already born, is the shower being held? Seasonally themed baby gifts, such as a sweater with Christmas applique, are gifts that can spice up any baby picture by suggesting the time of year.

But what if, like other Wonder Women, you're in a pinch for time and can't afford to give yourself the guilty pleasure of baby gift shopping? You can always let technology help by shopping for your gifts online, in the comfort of your own home, wearing cozy pajamas. There are many wonder gifts available online for any budget.

What is Infant Potty Training?

By Paul Jason James

Have you ever wondered how mothers managed without diapers in the past or how families toilet train in different cultures? There is an age period from birth to 6 months and that some babies remain receptive beyond this age to teach your baby potty training.

The basics of infant potty training involve learning your infant's body language, timing, patterns, in relation to feeding and waking In addition, many mothers instinctively know when their babies need to go. In short, it's about communication between you and your baby.

The goal of infant potty training is to toilet train a child while still an infant. Some parents begin this from birth. It's a very controversial issue with most experts agreeing that an infant does not have the neurological or physical development necessary to actually learn to control her bowels and bladder at this age. Mostly, it is the parent who is trained to hold the infant on a potty seat until she goes.

Opposing Views

Proponents claim there are many advantages to infant potty training though not much scientific data can validate such findings. They claim infant potty training means that the baby and their mothers can bond well together. It is easier on the infant and more comfortable for them as well. In addition, infant potty training allows the baby to become more independent and it also helps in reducing diaper waste, while it is also a natural and normal thing to teach your baby.

Opponents of infant potty training point to the futility of trying to force a child to learn something before she is capable of doing it. They compare it to trying to teach an infant to walk or talk at birth; the baby just isn't ready to do it. They feel the time spent holding an infant on a potty chair would be better spent letting the baby be a baby.

The gap between the two sides leaves parents to decide what is best for their child. Is the effort, when the child is so young, worth it? Only you can decide that.

Baby Shower Cake And Party Ideas

By Cathy C

Preparing for a baby shower party can be a tedious task. You need to define the guest list. You need to conceptualize the theme, print and send the invitations, and then prepare for the special date itself.

One of the busiest times for you as the host of the baby shower is that you need to be thinking about what shower decorations to make or purchase for the party, what will be the planned events, such as what games to have, what types of baby shower favors you will use, and what kind of foods and beverages will you be serving.

Traditionally the baby shower cake has been used as the table centerpiece during the baby shower party. Of course there are other options such as a diaper cake but for now we are focused on the edible type of cake. Make an effort to ensure that the cake for this occasion hasn't just been brought from the the local bakeshop as this could be offensive to the mother-to-be.

It is always a good idea to have some one who is attending the baby shower to bake the cake. This will show the mother-to-be that you are dedicated to supporting her and the newborn as well having the added benefit of being perfectly themed for the table centerpiece and the theme of the party.

Of course, pre-ordering the cake will also be fine as long as you give enough time for the cake to be prepared and that you have discussed with the person who will prepare the cake the concept of the baby shower party and how you would like the cake to look.

However, if you have some baking skills, or if you can follow instructions from cookbooks well, it is advantageous to prepare the cake yourself. You can use your creativity for the design and you can always ask for help from friends. Needless to mention, it is also less costly.

To prepare the baby shower cake, check online for tried and tested recipes and designs as there are many different websites offering free advice on this topic. You can also choose the flavor of the baby shower cake.

Usually, the designs and shapes of baby shower cakes are nursery items. These are flowers, birds, butterflies, baby-shaped, toys and other kid stuff. The most common icing colors are yellow, pink, blue, green and white.

For those that are hosting the baby shower after the birth of the child. Another idea that has become common place is having a picture of the baby placed on the top of the cake in edible icing. You will need a cake decorator to do this for you as it can be a delicate exercise.

If you are not interested in eating the baby shower cake then a good way to still present a cake is by creating it from diapers. This is known as a diaper cake and has been very popular amongst baby shower hosts around the world. It also serves as a great gift after the party with all those diapers ready to go.

Its fairy simple to prepare a diaper cake, all you need to get start is some rolled diapers that are several layers deep. For beginners it is suggested to only use three levels. You can then use pretty ribbon or laces to tie the diapers in place. Making sure that you do not tie the diapers to tightly as to crush them or the diaper cake will lose its shape. If you damage them during this process you will not get the result you are looking for and will possibly have to discard them to the trash.

If you have decided to go with the diaper cake then a great place to feature you achievement is on the table as the centerpiece for the baby shower party. If you have opted to have a real cake whether you have had it ordered or created it yourself the day will be aq complete success no matter you have chosen to do.

Now that the cake is out of the way you need to decide on what foods you will be serving. Usually you will see punches, tea, finger food and deserts being served. Another alternative especially if it is a mixed occasion is to have a barbecue accompanied with some grilled foods. This is a great time for the fathers to get to know each other while standing around the barbecue. The benefit of a Mixed baby shower is that all the parents and friends can have an opportunity to welcome the new baby into the world.

Easy Potty Training

By Paul J James

Most parents dread potty training, especially because most of the advice they are getting about it is contradictory. The good news is, potty training does not have to be hard if parents follow a few simple steps.

A Team Effort

Before beginning potty training, parents need to agree the time is right. They also need to agree on the words to be used to discuss potty training with the child.

After the parents have made the decisions regarding methods and words to be used, be sure to inform other care givers who will need to help your child use the bathroom.

Show and Tell

Educating your child about her body and its functions is the first step in easy potty training. She needs to learn how her body works and what the feelings coming from her bladder and bowels mean.

This doesn't need to be highly scientific, keep your conversations with her at her level and use the words you've chosen for her training.

The next step is to let your child go to the bathroom with you. She's probably been doing this anyway, so use the time to explain to her that everyone goes potty.

Children are naturally curious, she'll ask plenty of questions, answer them plainly and simply. If your child hasn't been following you into the bathroom already, you may feel a little invaded at first.

It's important to relax so she gets the message that using the bathroom is a natural process and everyone does it.

Praise Praise Praise

Praise all her efforts and reward her successes. She will be eager to do it again. One of the best rewards are stickers she can put on a potty chart to celebrate times she used the potty or had a dry night.

All in all, your child is just as eager to be potty trained as you are. She's starting to see the difference between babies and big kids and wants to be one as quickly as possible (because they have all the fun!).

Let her learn at her own pace and your diaper days will soon be over.

Is Your Child Ready For Potty Training?

By Paul Jason James

As most parents discover, thise is no shortage of "experts" eager to tell you when to start potty training your child. It's easy to get caught up in the stories of babies being potty trained at eight months old and worry that your child is lagging behind.

The Only Rule

The first and only "rule" of potty training is RELAX. Trying to rush your child into toilet training will only upset and frustrate both of you. As a baby, your child took his first step and said his first word when he was ready; so it is with potty training. You can bet that in the "potty trained at eight months" legend, it was the parent who was trained, not the child. Anyone who sits a baby on a potty chair often and long enough, will eventually get lucky...but at what price?

The True Expert

The only one who can decide when your child is ready for potty training is your child. he will give you very clear signs that indicate he is ready to take this big step in his life. Some of the things you will notice are:

- Curiosity- he'll follow you (and everyone else) into the bathroom, curious about what you're doing. Answer his questions at his level using the terms you want his to learn and use.

- More Control- diaper stays clean for longer periods of time. You know you've hit pay dirt when he wakes up dry after naps.

- Wanting to be clean- as your child gets closer to being ready for potty training, he will begin to dislike the feel of a soiled diaper.

The Key to Potty Training Success

Patience and perseverance will win the day especially if you keep your expectations realistic. When you deal with accidents calmly and offer profuse praise for successes, your child will soon connect using the potty with praise and will want to do it more often. The potty training months can seem long, but keep in mind this is his last transition from baby to child. The time you spend sitting on the side of the tub encouraging him is precious and like all of babyhood, too quickly over.

Even Billionaires Can't Afford A Car (Company)

By Bertel Schmitt

Billionaires turn their backs at Detroit while Chinese women buy new cars with 3 months of breastfeeding. By Bertel Schmitt, CEO Sinamotive Group (HK) Limited.

This is low. So low, this must be the bottom: Turn-around artists are turning their backs on Detroit's auto makers. Billionaire Kirk Kerkorian sells his holdings in Ford Motor Co. , after his nearly one billion dollar investment (made when he thought Ford was way underpriced) lost two thirds of its value. Kerkorian had to put up 50 million shares of his MGM Mirage Casino to secure the credit line he used to buy into Ford. It's panic city when supposedly recession-proof investments in CASINOS are pledged to prop up auto makers. (However, even casinos aren't the sure bet they used to be. )

Stephen Feinberg's Cerberus, urged by JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Citigroup Inc., which hold a lot of the debt from Cerberus's purchase of Chrysler from Germany's (then) DaimlerChrysler AG in August 2007, is desperately trying to unload Chrysler and foist it upon GM. Cerberus is also talking with Nissan Motor Co. and Renault SA about a linkup, but that's just viewed as a side show to lend more urgency to the wedding with GM. The Chrysler/GM nuptials have been talked up in the mainstream press as a gift from heaven, as a "win-win" situation full of "synergy" potential. These words rank big in the Dictionary of Corporate Bullshit - the smart make a runner for the door when these words are used. In a particularly apt analogy, our friends over at liken the Chrysler/GM shotgun wedding to the "Titanic rescuing the Lusitania." (If Google is an indicator , they should trademark the term.)

"Typical investors, and Cerberus is anything but typical, are running from the automotive industry," Warren Feder , partner at Carl Marks Advisory Group LLC in New York, said. "It's hard to see any upside with a degree of comfort, and you need that to make an equity investment."

Next year, China could buy more cars than Americans

JPMorgan Chase & Co, who should have a vested (see above) interest in painting a rosy of the auto industry, just did otherwise. U.S. auto deliveries may fall to an annual rate as low as 10 million vehicles this quarter and as low as 11 million next year, Himanshu Patel, an analyst at JPMorgan Chase & Co. in New York, wrote in a report on October 21, 2008 . A few days before, J.D. Power and Associates still had estimated 13.2 units sold in the U.S. for 2009. Patel's 2009 estimate would be the lowest rate since 1982. The predictions get worse by the day.

Next year, China could buy more cars than Americans

If Patel is right (and, see above, his firm has an intimate knowledge of the auto business,) and if China maintains a - by Chinese standards - rather benign growth rate, come 2009, the Chinese auto market might be the same size or even larger than the U.S. In the beginning of this year, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, had already predicted 10 million units for 2008. With growth slowing in China, the Chinese may not quite reach that target this year - or maybe they will. Next year, unless the sky will fall, 11 million cars sold in Chinas are entirely doable.

Babies are starving - not in China.

Bloomberg says that the exit of Kerkorian, Cerberus & Co. "may leave the U.S. auto industry without new funding just as sales head to a 26-year low."

Here comes a really disturbing bit of data: "Most consumers are worried about: 'Will I have enough to put food on the table so my family can eat?' Eduardo Castro-Wright, President and CEO of Wal-Mart's U.S. operations told attendees of a luncheon sponsored by Town Hall Los Angeles. His stores see spikes of sales of baby formula when paychecks come in, "suggesting consumers are rushing to buy such necessities as soon as they have the cash," Reuters reported. "As the economy worsens, Wal-Mart's customers have increasingly shown signs of living paycheck to paycheck. Wal-Mart's sales typically surge around pay periods at the beginning and middle of the month. Castro-Wright said that spike has become more pronounced as consumers' budgets become more stressed."

3 months of breastfeeding buys a new car

Contrast this to China. In the wake of the milk worries, affluent Chinese parents of babies more and more turn to "milk mothers" or "Nai Ma" who breast feed their new-born if the real mother doesn't want or can. Baby formula? No, thank you. Or "bu, xie, xie," as they say. They want the real thing for their one child only. In Beijing, a milk mother from the provinces can make between $300 and $1600 a month, with free room and board. A secretary in Beijing starts at around $300 a month, and must use the money to pay for food and shelter.

Back to topic #1: If a family can barely feed their babies, the likelihood of buying a new car is nil or worse. The Chinese milk mother can buy a new car for cash with three or 5 months earnings (if she opts for a better model.) The International Breastfeeding Committee of WHO/Unicef recommends breastfeeding for six months. Chinese hospitals recommend a year or more. After a year of watching TV and feeding the baby, the milk mother will have two or three cars to take home. Meanwhile, back in the U.S.A., parents need parts to keep their cars running, at least twice a month, for a trip to Wal-Mart.

Are Potty Training Dolls Useful?

By Paul J James

Parents are always on the look-out for tools to help make potty training easier. One of the tools available is the potty training doll.

The Concept

Dolls that wet have been around for ages. The doll "drinks" a bottle of water and then wets into a diaper. The potty training doll is the same concept only it's designed to "wet" when it's held upright over a potty chair or toilet. The theory is, if the child sees the doll using the potty, she will get the idea and use the potty herself. There isn't any hard and fast research either way on the effectiveness of the dolls in potty training a child.

Worth a Shot?

Nighttime Potty Training

By Paul J James

For some children, nighttime potty training can be an easy and smooth transition from their daytime routine. For these kids, simply being able to conquer bladder control during the day develops their nighttime habits enough that they are able to stay dry the majority of the time. However, about one third of kids under the age of three still have accidents.

Proper Bladder Control-Give It Time

What Can I Do?

Nighttime Potty Training vs. Bedwetting

Did you know that it is considered a part of normal development to deal with nighttime potty training until age five? Because it is a matter of neurological development, most medical practitioners tend to distinguish between age-appropriate nighttime bladder control development and actual bedwetting. Bedwetting becomes the term used only when issues with nighttime potty training persist after age five, when you may want to explore other age-appropriate options.

Having consistently dry nights is usually the last hurdle of potty training. When your child reaches this benchmark, you both deserve a pat on the back and a celebration of your child's final transition from baby to child.

Early Detection Signs of Autism

By Carisma Corianno

If you are like a lot of parents you are watching your child develop and grow very closely and sometimes you may see things in them not developing like other children. In a lot of these cases the question of autism is in the air. The crazy thing about this concern is, every child shows some sort of symptoms of autism, but most grow out of it. I tell you one thing don't stress yourself out about it. My first bit of advice is to get a hold of a milestone chart -either from a doctor or I am sure you can find one online.

As a parent we keep an eye on our kids but watch for very specific things if you are worried. If those worries are there, go ahead and write them down so you are able to talk about it with their doctor. A lot of the times the caregivers are the ones that see these signs. Above all, if you honestly are losing sleep about something - go see the pediatrician and talk about it. That could help no matter what the end result. There are a lot of doctors out there doing research on how to detect the autism signs sooner and earlier, so the child can be treated as soon as possible.

General symptoms that are seen in children are :

*If they don't crack a smile by the age of 6 months

*If you notice your child is not talking or babling at the least by 12 months

*Not saying any words by the time they are 16 months

*A child should be saying two word phrases by the time they are two years old

*Regression in things they have learned

*Eye contact might be a problem because their interest is some where else, a lot

*Some cannot communicate very well and look as to not give any effort to try to communicate

*Very rough, violent tantrums are a general sign

*The child doesn't really have any friends because they would just rather be alone, interaction is not on the top of their list

*You might have issues with your child hearing you, you might think they have some hearing problems

There are a ton of signs and many can be seen very early in a child's life. You just have to pay very close attention. I actually make it sound easy - but it's not. If you don't detect it, when they are 6 months, it doesn't make you a bad parent. But if you do have questions you should speak to their doctor and talk to their caregiver, the caregiver can give you an idea of how they see things as well.

Conceiving A Boy - Tips On Using Ovulation Prediction Kits

By Samantha Adams

In this article we look at ways of helping couples when they are trying to find a way of how to conceive a boy naturally. Certainly knowing when the woman is about to start ovulating is crucial, especially if they want to ensure that the sperm carrying the male gene to reaches the egg to fertilize it first. One such way for them to predict when the woman is ovulating is through them using prediction kits.

In fact ovulation prediction kits are proving very popular as a way of being able to detect the exact time period when a woman has begun to ovulate. The main advantage of using an ovulation prediction kit (OPK) is that it will tell the woman when she is about to start ovulating before it has even begun. These kits are able to detect the increased production of Luteinizing hormone within her uterus and this generally takes place around 36 hours before ovulation.

There are two types of ovulation prediction kits which can be used today for predicting when ovulation is about to occur. A couple can use either the test strip method or the midstream method. Both of which work in the same way, but the way in which they are used differs. With the test strip method the device is dipped into a container with the woman's urine in it and is kept there for a number seconds. Whereas with the midstream method the woman needs to hold the device under the stream of urine when she goes to the toilet. Normally it takes around 5 minutes of the urine coming into contact with the midstream device before a reading will be provided.

However there are certain things that the couple can do when using ovulation prediction kits which can help them to better recognize when ovulation in the woman is taking place. Below we offer a number tips that they may find useful if they are going to be using an ovulation prediction kit.

Tip 1 - To obtain a better idea of when to use a ovulation prediction test the couple should also use a chart for recording the woman's body's basal temperature. Using this chart will then help them to look back and see when ovulation is taking place normally.

Tip 2 - Although a couple may think it is a waste of time but actually carrying out the tests more than once a day is a good idea as well. The couple need to be aware that the increase in LH (Luteinizing Hormone) only occurs in the body for a short period of time and doing the test say twice each day will hopefully mean that you don't miss this event when it occurs.

Tip 3 - Although you do not necessarily have to carry out the tests with the ovulation prediction kits first thing in the morning. What is important is that you do carry out the tests at the same time each day after the first test has been carried out. By doing this you are much more able to identify the period of time when the uterus has begun to produce more of the Luteinizing Hormone.

Tip 4 - It is crucial that the ovulation prediction kit should be used until the level of Luteinizing Hormone in the uterus shows a marked difference. As soon as this difference has been identified then in order to increase the chances of the couple being able to conceive a boy they should make love within 36 hours of this event occurring.

Some Information On Adoption Lawyers

By Elias Maseko

If you are a couple that intend to adopt a child whether from within your own or from a foreign country, it is not wise to try and attempt this without the use of a specialist adoption lawyer. Anyone attempting this without a legal representative would find it almost impossible as they became tied up with legal matters for which they are not trained.

Part of the procedure required by the courts is for the parents who wish to adopt to submit documents pertaining to the child's birth and the reason why the legal parents are placing the child up for adoption. It is not uncommon for couples to try and complete this task themselves but in the interests of speed and efficiency it is much wiser to use the services of a professional lawyer, versed in adoption law and practice.

During the finalization process of the adoption, it might help to have a lawyer present as the adoptive parents must attend a hearing which usually takes place within the first year after a child is placed in their new home. Some people approach adoption agencies as they see them as their best option to adopt and even with their experience in courtroom procedure, they will use the services of an adoption lawyer.

International adoptions are of course more tricky as every country has it's own individual laws relating to the adoption of children, so trying to arrange this without legal representation would be foolish. Of course a further problem faced is that of language because what means one thing in one country can mean the opposite in another; therefore documents have to be translated and then interpreted by professionals. If you are aware of how difficult it is to adopt in your own country then you'll understand just how huge the task is internationally so it really can't be done without an adoption attorney who can translate documentation.

There is also the matter of nationalization to consider and this complex process alone warrants the use of someone who is trained in legal matters. Never underestimate just how important an adoption lawyer is; the skills, knowledge and experience in these matters they bring with them are immense. They will also be familiar with any traps that the unsuspecting couple may fall into, and any loopholes they need to be aware of.

Often, because good adoption lawyers can be hard to find, adoption agencies will have access to their own; this way they can guarantee their clients will have someone they can trust to act on their behalf. That is why using an agency can often be an advantage as couples seeking to adopt a child are more likely to succeed and would not need to look for their own adoption attorney which might take time if they intend to check references. This can provide a peace of mind because there are past cases where prospective parents have believed they had completed the procedure and were legal parents when that was not the case at all.

Baby Shower Party And Why You Need To Be Informed.

By Don Pedro

Baby gifts are common all over the world. Once a child is born the people around the mother or the parents are usually very happy and one of the ways to communicate their joy is by sending gifts to the mother of the child and the baby. If you want to send a gift to a baby, always take the time to find the one that will be appreciated by the parents and one that will make you feel proud to give.

If you have a fantastic gift to present to that lovely couple that have just been blessed with a child, wait until the baby shower party. Baby shower parties could be elaborate or casual. It depends a lot on the mood that they want presented. They normally hold in restaurants country clubs or in people's homes.

Different people and nations have special ways of celebrating their new born babies and giving them gifts. The Koreans do not have a baby shower like the Americans do after the baby is born. They celebrate their babies when they are one year. This is because in the past, they had a lot of child mortality. For them, it is always a cause to celebrate and to shower the baby with gifts after he has survived the first one year since they feel it is such a big hurdle to cross. So, it really all depends on people's culture and ways of life to decide having a baby shower party or not.

You can decide to personalize a baby's gift by monogramming or doing some embroidery on them. You can use the embroidery to write the baby's name or the baby's initials on the gift. Doing it this way makes it special

If you decide to do more research concerning some of the gifts you want to get for a new baby, it is better that you do your search on the Internet. Do not preoccupy yourself with what the manufacturer is saying alone. Take time to go through comments and feedbacks you find online to learn special ways of finding the right baby gifts.

Planning and executing is always fulfilling at the end of the day, when you are able to find the right baby gift. If you have decided to buy a basket and fill it up for a baby shower of a dear friend, arranging the basket is one of the important things that you will do. A tip that will help you is this - put the heavier things under the basket and the lighter things on top.

Safeguard car seats can be very wonderful types of baby gifts that you can give a baby and the mom. This kind of gift may not be used immediately but they are priceless. Look into your catalogue for the different features and for what is best for every particular age group. Check the colors before you place your order.

You can give bracelets and necklaces to the mom as your own special gift. Bracelets and necklaces are what every woman will appreciate. She would love to have it as keepsakes for the memory of her baby's birth. Every woman treasures something good and no woman will reject a set of beautiful jewelry.

Confused New Dad? How to Be More Than a Sperm Donor!

By Christy Cuellar-Wentz

1. Becoming a good lover takes time. So does becoming a good father. Donating sperm may have been easy, but fatherhood can be a lot more rewarding. Be patient with yourself and enjoy the process.

2. Hands-on fathering is good for you, your partner and your baby. It's not just about changing diapers. Feeding, bathing, holding and talking to your little one helps you bond together and gain essential on-the-job training.

3. Your wife probably has baby on the brain. Being on duty twenty-four hours a day will do that to a person, and no, she's not as much fun as she used to be. HOWEVER, she will return being more like the woman you fell in love with - maybe even better than you remember - after the three of you make the profound transition to new parenthood.

4. Your wife still needs you. Stay nearby and be patient. You may not recognize the woman you partnered up with 9 or 10 months ago, but she is still in there.

5. Your sex life may have taken a nose dive, but you will be able to engage in some adult fun, with your wife, soon.

6. No one is to blame for postpartum depression, baby blues, or any other postpartum mood disorder. The vast majority of women go through some version of these. Don't blame her or yourself. Many symptoms are temporary, and there are treatments available for all of them.

7. Sleep helps. Your wife is probably getting a fraction of the sleep she used to. You may be on the light side as well. Helping each other get more sleep is one of the most important things you can do to help everyone feel better.

8. Trust your gut. Everybody, from the guy at the gym to your baby's pediatrician, will give you different advice. Even if you're new at this, your instincts are good. Your wife, your baby and your instincts will let you know what you need to know if you pay attention.

9. Your baby needs to play with you. Here is a case where having fun is the right thing. Playing stimulates your baby's mind and body to develop in healthy ways. You may feel more playful right now than your wife, so go for it.

10. Learn when to ask for help. Life can be stressful with a new baby. It should get easier with time. If things get worse, or simply don't improve, it is time to ask for help. Check out www.Mommy-Muse.com for information and great resources.

Baby Shower Games

By Charmaine L. Smoot

You've gotten all the RSVPs, planned the fabulous menu, and set the theme for your upcoming baby shower. You're a great host. What's left to do, you may be wondering. Plan the entertainment, of course! With guests coming far and wide, as well as from different eras of the mom-to-be's life, there are going to be plenty of people who'll need introductions. It's your job to take care of that as efficiently as possible.

There's no better way to do that than with baby shower games! Not only do games provide just the right social lubrication (without alcohol!), well-chosen games can also get everyone excited about the upcoming birth. So break out the baby games to break the ice, start conversation flowing, and get everyone in a friendly mood. Here are a few suggestions:

Tummy Girth Game

Pass out some ribbon or string. Try to tie in the color with your theme or go with the standards: pink, blue, yellow, or green. Have each guest cut their string to the length they think will match the girth of the pregnant mom's tummy right now. After all the guests are done, have the guest of honor wrap each string around her stomach at the biggest part. The guest whose string comes closest to the mom's actual size without going over wins!

Popular Baby Shower Game: Pin the Passy on the Baby

Love "Pin the Tail on the Donkey"? So do I! Apparently, a lot of people do because this game is a hit at all the baby showers I've been to. It's pretty self-explanatory, yeah? Just use a pacifier, a picture of a baby on the wall, and try to have the blindfolded guest pin the "passy" to the baby's mouth. Closest one wins!

Dress the Baby

Have each guest bring a doll, receiving blanket, onesie, and a diaper. Then have them randomly exchange their baby gear with another guest. The guests take turns trying to dress the baby they've been given while they are timed. Fastest dresser wins! Just as a note: this game really gets the competitive juices flowing since it's against the clock. Some people may start getting fired up, so be careful!

Guess the Baby Gear

This is a fun one! I would put this game near the end of the game-playing period since this will calm everyone down and focus them on mom-to-be... it's a great cooling down game! Have the guest of honor sit down on a large couch or chair and blindfold her. Place a large bag of baby gear in front of her and ask her to guess what each item is. Laughs are sure to come out of this one, especially for those who bring wacky baby gear!

Return to Childhood Game: The Bottle Race

Come on. Who's not going to break the ice once they see a roomful of guests sucking on a baby bottle? You will. I will. We all will. It's like a law of nature. Just make sure you have enough bottles and nipples for everyone to participate. Have a pre-determined time limit, say 3 minutes. Everyone starts at the same time. No heats. See who can such the liquid out of the bottle fastest! This isn't as easy as it sounds when you're trying to keep from laughing at the site of grown adults feeding from a bottle!

With baby shower games like these, it'll be easy to get carried away on a wave of fun celebrating the upcoming birth. And that's the point! These baby shower games will make fast friends out of all the guest of honors friends, and get everyone to focus on how much fun the mom-to-be is about to have. Happy Baby Shower! And if you think of a great game you'd like to share with others, let us know, and we'll include it! Thanks!

Practical Guide On Baby Shower Gifts

By Don Pedro

The baby shower started as a tea party but people do not just serve tea any longer. It depends now on the organizers and the new mom. The budget of the party has a lot to do with the menu. The person throwing the party can be an aunty of the expecting mom or a close relative. Nowadays there can be more than one baby shower because people in the church or the office colleagues may want to organize separate ones.

If you are going for a baby shower party, you should know that the theme of the baby shower party is important. It is the theme that sets the pace for the nature of the party. It also sets the rhythm for the kind of gifts that will be brought in to the party for the baby. It's important therefore for you to know the theme and know what kind of gift to give to the baby that will rhyme with the theme.

When considering a baby shower party, choosing the right date for the party is very necessary. First, your date must be free for most people that you are inviting. The most important person there is the new mom. Remember that your party cannot hold if the mom would not be around for one reason or the other.

Are you considering giving eco-friendly products as baby gifts? The baseline about the eco- friendly products is that they are very good. The products are not synthetic and the prices are just right. No matter where you get any of their products, their prices are incomparable. The products are normally better and cheaper when compared to others.

At the onset of getting your baby gift, one of the things that you must have in mind is giving out very thoughtful gifts. The family will appreciate it better than when you just pick any common gift. Many people agree that such times are very important as you get the opportunity to show how much you care for the parents and the new born baby.

If you don't want to spend the time to go shopping for baby gifts, you don't have to, thanks to the Internet. Once you decide what kind of gift you want to present to that lovely new born baby, all you need to do is to visit some online stores and choose what you want. Place your order and they will simply ship your goods in a few days, depending on the location.

Burp clothes come in different shapes and sizes. Every child needs such sets of clothes to clean up the messes made. They are small pieces of napkins that are washable that you will need to continually use to clean up babies. They need this several times a day and they come in many decorative ways, some have trimmings round the edges. Such gifts can also be personalized.

You can give bracelets and necklaces to the mom as your own special gift. Bracelets and necklaces are what every woman will appreciate. She would love to have it as keepsakes for the memory of her baby's birth. Every woman treasures something good and no woman will reject a set of beautiful jewelry.

What Others Won't Tell You About Baby Gifts

By Don Pedro

If you are a Christian, you will realize that giving gifts to babies when a child is born is dated back to the times before the birth of Jesus Christ. It is something that happens among practically all people in the world. They call it different names in different cultures but it is a common thing everywhere. So, don't hesitate to send a baby gift whenever you get the opportunity to.

The purpose of the baby shower is to help the parents to supply the needs of the children. The society is a giving society and it has obviously created this avenue for the exercise to be done easily and more conveniently. Not only does the baby receive gifts, the father and the mother also get some things. Even the close relations that help in planning do not go home empty.

If you are planning a baby shower, your guest list is of high importance. If you do not invite all the people that you are supposed to invite then you will be stepping on their toes when they eventually hear about it. Please invite all the people close to the new mom as much as possible, including all friends, relatives, colleagues and most especially neighbors of the new mom.

Many people are now buying baby gifts from eco-friendly shops. These eco friendly shops have all kinds of baby gifts and they are easy to order and fast in delivering baby gifts. They store gifts like personalized blankets. They stock their own types of T shirts. They have rattles. Diaper bags and classic baby blankets are among all their collections.

Are you about to go shopping for the right baby gift? The first thing you will need to do is to plan. Find out how much time you have to shop for the basket and the gifts. If you do not have enough time to come up with something fantastic, simply go for the custom-made baby gift basket that is already parked.

You may decide to give that lovely new born baby a set of books that have a collection of nursery rhymes in them. A lot of moms may have forgotten their nursery rhymes after leaving them for a long time. This kind of book with a collection of nursery rhymes will serve several purposes. At least it will remind them of the rhymes they used to enjoy when they were babies.

Jewelry is something of worth that you can present as gift to a child. This is a perfect gift for a baby girl. You can present gifts that can be worn at any age. There are jewelries for all ages. They could be earrings, chains and bangles. But of course , only buy what you can afford. Don't buy what will cause you financial problems at the end of the day.

Clocks and lamps will surely make wonderful gifts for the mother of a newly born child. These are gifts that she can keep in her bedroom or anywhere she chooses. Women do not often forget about the givers of lovely gifts but it is better to engrave on those kinds of gifts to keep the memories forever.

Cloth Diapers - Why They Are the Right Choice for Your Baby

By Jen Stoddart

The first 2 plus years of a child's life are lived in diapers. Raising a baby has many wonderful rewards and some challenges. As parents we sometimes are just concerned with finding convenient ways to be a great parent.

The choice of diaper type that we as parents make can have a positive or negative influence on our child's health, their comfort, and the health of the world that we live in. And there is a great deal of money to be saved when people choose cloth diapers over disposable-style diapers.

We have done some research and here are our seven reasons to move away from disposable diapers and instead choose to use cloth diapers for your baby.

1. Healthier for baby - disposable diapers are made with the super absorbent chemical, sodium polyacrylate, which absorbs and holds fluids in the diaper. This chemical has been linked to toxic shock syndrome. Another chemical concern is Dioxin. Traces of the carcinogen Dioxin have been found in disposable diapers. Dioxin causes liver disease, immune system suppression and genetic damage. It is a by-product of the paper-bleaching process used in the making of this type of diaper.

2. Lower possibility of diaper rash for your baby. Disposable diapers are made of very dense material, while cloth diapers are made of breathable cotton. This means that you baby will be cooler, thereby reducing the build up of bacteria growth which lowers the possibility of a rash. Babies that wear cloth diapers get changed more often because they will feel wet to the touch when the baby is wet. Disposables on the other hand are so absorbent that even when the baby is wet the diaper may not feel wet and therefore the baby will not be changed as often. This will result in a greater chance of the baby developing a diaper rash.

3. Comfort for baby - today's cloth baby diapers are made of several layers of 100% soft cotton flannelette. More and more parents are choosing 100% cotton for their baby's clothing as natural cotton fibres FEEL BETTER. Not only is 100% cotton known to be more comfortable, it's cooler and more natural to your skin, especially on sensitive body parts. Unlike disposable diapers, cloth child diapers stay cool even on the hottest summer day.

4. Less expensive. Studies have shown that during a baby's diaper-wearing years they will wear about 7500 diapers. If you choose to use cloth diapers over disposables the savings to your household will be in the magnitude of between one and two thousand dollars. And that's when you include the costs of purchasing disposables versus the cost of buying and laundering the cloth baby diapers at home. Saving money is important to our family. Our experience with our first child, in his first year we saved over $800 by using cloth diapers. Using cloth makes sense on a number of different levels - but if you only use cloth because you want to save money - you will save money.

5. Do your part to improve our world - cloth diapers can be used over and over again making them better for the environment. Consider some other items. A high quality cloth diaper can be washed a hundred or more times. And if you have or plan on having more than one child the cloth diaper can be used for your 2nd and 3rd child. And sure it use up energy to wash cloth diapers. This energy use cost is very small when you compare it to what the cost to the environment caused by the use of disposables. We can expect a disposable to take at least 400 years to be fully decomposed in our already crowded landfills. Also consider that the manufacturers of diapers that are disposable in a year will use more than a million metric tons of wood pulp and 75,000 metric tons of plastic each year.

6. As easy to change as disposables. There is no argument it is easy to change a baby if you are using disposables. But today`s cloth diapers are as easy to use as the disposable type. This is especially true for the cloth diapers that have a built in outer liner. All cloth diapers nowadays use a snap closure or a Velcro-type closure to ensure a snug, good fit for your baby.

7. No outer diaper cover required - today there are all in one diapers that have a built in waterproof outer cover meaning that there is no need for a diaper cover.

The Benefits Of Breast Feeding Your Baby Starting At Birth

By Chris Channing

Breastfeeding is considered a beautiful act by many mothers who practice it, but many people disagree. Breastfeeding has many health benefits that are both physical as well as mental. Breastfeeding is natural, and safe for your child, but not all women choose to breastfeed, because it can be a tough decision.

Breastfeeding reduces the risk that your child will become obese in their childhood and teenage years. It also reduces allergen risks, because allergies are caused by the things you are introduced to very young. A child who is fed cows milk as a baby will probably become allergic to that at a later age.

Babies who were breast fed for at least 6 months, also have a much closer spiritual bond with their mothers, and as they get older, they are likely to be closer to their mother as well. Mothers consider breast feeding to be a unique experience that is very special to them. Other formulas and milks can cause allergic reactions as well as diseases later in life.

Feeding a baby on the go can be a difficult task, and more often than not a great inconvenience. Mothers who travel alone in a car, or take public transports may have a hard time breast feeding a baby whenever it needs food. This is why pumping your milk ahead of time is a great way to save yourself the trouble of having to pull over to feed your baby. After all, its not exactly safe to breast feed and drive.

Public situations can also cause anxiety for breast feeding mothers. They usually do not want to deal with feeding in public, but some are quite open about it. If you are open about breast feeding in public, it is advisable to use a blanket or special clothing to cover up most of your bare breast. For those that are entirely shy, you can just pre-pump the milk into a bottle, or go to a bathroom wherever you are at and feed your child there. Breast feeding in public has spiked controversy, and many people are trying to ban it.

Before considering breast feeding your child, it is a good idea to stop taking certain medications. Medicines can "infiltrate" your breast milk, and they may harm the baby. Exercise, and eating healthy will ensure that your breast milk is the healthiest that it can be for your child.

Closing Comments

Breast feeding is natural, and amazingly healthy for your baby. There is also plenty of research that supports and encourages breast feeding.

Car Seat, Stroller and Toys - How to Make the Right Choice?

By Michael

Everything about your child is important. Be it the clothes that he wears or the toy that he plays with, it is very important that your child receives the best.

It is very difficult to choose the right toy for your child because of the wide variety of toys available. For your toddler you can buy toys like teethers, rolling balls, small trucks and tricycle, whereas puzzles, educational games, board games, etc. can be brought for you kid.

When choosing a toy for your toddler or kid, inspect them carefully because certain parts could cause injury to the child. The toy must be sturdy and be appropriate for your kid's age. The toy must be well made; else the toys may fall apart and harm your child. Read all the information about the toy that you buy for your child. Some of the toys available in the market may be toxic which is very harmful for your child. The toys that you buy must be washable, this will help you maintain hygiene and prevent your child from getting sick. When buying toys for kids DON'T buy toys smaller than 1 inches in diameter or 2 inches in length, because these toys could choke your child.

Jogger strollers make it very easy for mothers to take their toddlers along with them when they go out. The uneven surface can be handled with ease because of the presence of large wheels in the strollers. The front wheel makes it easy to maneuver the stroller in malls, car parks and other terrain areas.Suspensions present in strollers help in making the ride smooth for your babies.

When buying a Stroller make sure it is made of aluminum. This makes the stroller light and rust resistant. Large wheels in the stroller increase their maneuverability. The 12 inch wheel works well only on smooth surface whereas the 20 inch wheel suits any terrain. Well padded seats make the ride convenient for babies. Don't buy the stroller if they cannot be folded with one hand.

Ensure your child's safety by using car seats meant for infants. If your baby weighs less than 20 lbs and is less than one year old then infant car seat can be used. If your baby is more than 20 lbs but below 40 lbs then infant toddler seat must be used.

The first thing that you should look for when buying an infant car seat is that it must be easy to install. If the seat is not installed properly your baby may not be restrained properly to the seat. This may endanger his life. The infant car seat that you buy must have a five point safety harness i.e. one for each shoulder, one for each thigh and one between the legs of the baby. The car seat must allow an adjustment from the front as it makes buckling the child very easy.

Six Things You Need to Know About Ltci and Automatic Inflation Protection

By Terry Stanfield

Automatic inflation protection is a factor for a long term care insurance quote you need to understand. Many people don't understand this stipulation until it is too late and they need it. Here are six things to consider when you are looking at an insurance policy.

1. Automatic inflation protection occurs automatically. You don't have to find out the coverage you need is not on your policy or ask for it later. Some policies may not allow you to add to them later also.

2. Without automatic inflation protection the buying power of your benefits may decrease over time. This is the best way to protect yourself by getting it on your policy now. If benefits are decreasing instead of increasing, you might find you are paying more for benefits you once had already.

3. Inflation protection for one policy holder may not be the same for another. You have control over your policy and when you get a long term care insurance quote be sure to have the company add the automatic inflation protection to it.

4. Compounding interest at 5% is an option for automatic inflation protection on your long term policy. This will also have a 5% simple inflation option. Compounding interest on this policy has a better effect on the amount of benefits that will be available to you over a long time period. Your payment may increase a little but it is worth it in the long run so you are not paying for hospital bills or things that should have been covered.

5. The only way you can see the benefits of the automatic inflation on your long term care insurance policy is to be the patient yourself. When you are in the situation and you do not have the coverage you need it will become evident. It usually takes many years for it to be evident what this type of coverage really is.

6. Inflation protection that is automatic will increase the long term care insurance cost a small amount every time the coverage increases. The coverage may increase in the dollar amount covered, the actual medical benefits, time frame in a hospital, and more.

The automatic inflation period of coverage is very important to get when you get a long term care insurance quote. This is because you want to be sure your policies benefits do not decrease over time or become less worthy to you. This type of insurance is a good decision that secures the future of your financials and your health.

Baby Skin Care For Newborns - How To Protect Your Newborn

By Samantha E. Ford

A Newborn baby's skin is very delicate, and so is the forming immune system. Chemicals, fragrances, clothing dyes, detergents can cause skin irritation, dryness and rashes. This might sound like a worry, but there many things you can do to protect your baby from skin problems.

In the first month, as the immune system is still developing, don't use baby products. Anyone with a family history of allergies or asthma should pay close attention to protecting babys new immune system and skin.

Always wash your baby's new clothing before it's worn. Use baby only laundry detergents that are completely fragrance and dye-free. Wash clothes, bedding, and blankets separately from the regular family laundry and always give everything an extra rinse.

Resist the urge to bathe your baby to much. Too regular bathing removes the natural oils that protect your baby's skin. Except for drool and diaper changes, newborns just don't get very dirty, so for the first month or so, a sponge bath 2 or 3 times weekly will keep your baby clean. In between, simply wash baby's mouth and diaper area with a little warm water and cleanser.

When you see a rash, this may be allegic recation. Rashes under the diaper may in fact be eczema and not a diaper rash at all. An allergy to dyes in the diapers themselves can be the cause this reaction so change to dye-free diapers future outbreaks will probably stop. If it doesn't, reduce bathing to once a week, change your baby skin products and make sure baby wears only soft clothing.

More than often baby's diaper rash is caused by the irritating wetness of a soiled diaper. Rashes can also appear when baby's skin is not crefully dried after a bath. And sometimes, a bacteria or yeast infection will cause diaper rash, especially for babies who are taking antibiotics.

Usually diaper rash doesn't require medical care. To treat diaper rash and prevent further newborn skin problems:

1. Check diapers many times a day.

2. Change diapers immediately when wet or soiled.

3. Wash the diaper area with mild fragrance-free cleanser or plain water. If the rash is severe, use a squirt bottle to cleanse without rubbing.

4. Use a soft clean cloth instead of baby wipes. The perfume in wipes may irritate and dry baby's skin.

5. Pat baby dry. Don't rub. Let the diaper area air-dry fully before putting on a fresh diaper.

6. Apply a layer of as Vaseline or other protective ointment like Desitin or A&D.

7. Avoid the use of baby powder. Corn starch-based powders allow yeast growth and talcum powder can cause lung problems if breathed-in.

Giving your newborn a massage is important one-on-one time that conveys your love to your newborn. Research shows that a baby's very survival depends on being touched by others -- as touch triggers hormones, boosts immunity, and helps fight disease. Also, massaged babies are calmer, sleep better, and cry less which is another big benefit.

There's no special technique to massaging a baby. Find a carpeted floor in a warm room. Simply lay baby on a soft blanket or fabric. Get a little baby oil or a gentle lotion. Warm it in your hand. Then gently massage baby's chest and tummy -- using a gentle yet firm touch. Try to make eye contact and talk to your baby. Sing softly.
