Baby Showers Made Easy

By Charmaine L. Smoot

The anticipation of a new baby entering the world is cause for joy and celebration, wouldn't you agree? After the expectant parents gather the confidence to reveal their wonderful surprise to friends and family, however, months of physical discomfort and feelings of apprehension may await them. What better way to assuage their fears and help prepare them for their baby's arrival than by holding a baby shower?

The baby shower is a time-honored tradition showing the joy loved ones have for the arriving family member. It's also a great opportunity just to get together and enjoy each other's company! Friends and family traditionally plan the baby shower for the mom-to-be while she readies herself for the birth. And as with many parties, not only is it a time for celebration, it's also a time to give!

Gifts for the baby and mom are an integral part of baby showers. Especially so with first-time mothers, baby gifts ease the tremendous financial cost of having a child. This need creates a fantastic opportunity for many baby essentials to be given as presents:

* adorable onesies

* body suits

* practical pajamas

* bibs

* multi-color burp cloths

* blankets for both winter and summer

* diapers

* baby wipes and hand sanitizers

* baby shampoo

* baby lotion for smooth skin.

Is the mom-to-be registered at a store? Wonderful! Then your gift-buying just got a whole lot simpler. Many shops make their registries available online for the ultimate in convenience, so you may not even have to get into a car to buy a fantastic gift. And in these times of soaring gas prices, that's a definite plus.

Are you pressed for time but don't have a registry, on- or off-line, to guide your buying decision? Let baby baskets come to the rescue! They come with many baby basics and must-haves included and can be purchased at many baby specialty stores. These baskets come in a wide range of sizes and price ranges to fit any budget. In fact, you can have them sent directly to the host's home to keep things ultra-convenient.
