The Best Baby Cribs For Your Infant

By Bianca C Cunningham

Whenever you are buying baby cribs for your child, there truly are a ton of different things that you need to think about. After all, you want to make sure that your child is going to be safe and very comfortable as well as happy in their crib. In this article, we are going to explain some of the best practices to picking out the perfect baby crib for your child!

It goes without saying that there are tons of different kinds of cribs available. You have to keep in mind that your baby will be sleeping in the crib until he or she is two or three, at which point a full sized bed is safe. Safety is the most important issue when you are buying a crib.

To that end, there are typically two styles to consider when you are purchasing a standard crib. The first standard crib has just one side which can be dropped or slide down. The other standard crib has two sides which drop down.

There are pros and cons associated with each one. For instance, you may not be able to get the baby out of the crib quickly enough with a single drop. However, there is less of a chance that he or she will knock down the side and fall out of the bed. The chances of that are riskier with a double drop crib. However, you can get to the baby quite easily.

There are also convertible cribs. As the name suggests, they can be converted from a standard crib into a bed fit for a toddler. From there, it can be further converted into either a daybed or a full sized bed. When you first buy a convertible crib, it is typically expensive. However, you will save money in the long run.

Canopy cribs are ideal if you want something classy and elegant. Like adult canopies, there are four posts on the corners, onto which is attached a metal frame. The canopy goes on the crib. There are also round cribs. They tend to be single drop cribs.

It does not matter what style of crib that you choose, you really just need to make sure that your baby is safe. One way to make sure that your baby is safe is to ensure each dropping side is going to be at least nine inches above the crib's mattress. Two and three-eighths is the norm of the gap on the side near the mattress and of course, you do not want to be able to fit more than two fingers between the mattress and the side of the crib.
