Jesus' Method For Dealing With Stress

By Court

The new year is progressing, but the economy doesn't seem to be marching on with it. The recent bank bailout seems to have had little effect. About $350 billion was given to banks to get them lending again a few months ago, but it hasn't spurred the economy yet. Where did the money go? The government admits it doesn't really know, and yet is ready to give twice as much more while it's in debt at record levels.

Money itself is not evil, but the problem with it is it tends to take God's Place in the eyes of the people who seek it. Jesus taught about the importance of keeping your eye single. A single eye sees God only and doesn't watch for other things and trust in having them, but trusts in God only. He said when your eye is single your whole body is full of light.

Even Jesus Christ experienced stress. In fact, His state of psychological stress was so severe that it has since been written about in medical journals: Hematohidrosis is a condition in which the blood vessels around sweat glands dilate to the point of rupture, whereupon the blood flows into the sweat glands - coming out as droplets of blood mixed with sweat.

But there was a survey done recently of the American public, asking them what is most important to them right now. The environment was last on their list of worries, and it has concerned fewer and fewer people over the course of the last year as the economy has waned. What is so important to people that they don't care that their own house is falling down? Money.

You may not be able to do much to save the world. Global warming isn't going to be stopped anyway. But you can watch for Jesus to return. He said when you see the Sprig of the Fig Tree, you know that summer is near. You can see the summer coming; the world is warming up now. The summer is how Jesus described the End-Times, which are actually a blessed Time, because that's when He promised to return.
