Holding A Great Baby Baptism Reception

By Jim Branson

Many new parents decide that they are going to have their baby baptized. There are catholic baptisms as well as baby dedications, which are essentially like these baptism ceremonies. No matter which option you are choosing for your baby, you may want to have a nice baby baptism reception after the ceremony.

Of course this time is rather solemn, but the reception is a time to celebrate the life of your baby and the occasion. Here are several great tips that can help you to plan a great baby baptism reception.

The first thing to think about is your invitations. You'll have to find invitations which are fitting for this event and you'll want to be sure to include both the time and the location of the church where the baptism is being held and the location where your reception will be held.

You'll want to find a suitable location for your reception, preferably one which is located close to where the baptism will be held. Your home can work if you have enough room to hold the event there, but parks, reception halls and restaurants all make excellent choices.

Since there will probably be kids around, it's a great idea to consider having some entertainment for them. You don't want to leave a bunch of kids with nothing to do. So, have some games planned or other entertainment.

You'll have to serve food at your reception - buffets, snacks, cakes and other sweets all make good choices. Whatever you pick, you'll need to make sure your guests are well fed.

Make sure that you decorate the reception area nicely for the baby baptism reception. While you don't have to go overboard, some well placed decorations can really make it look great. Check with local party stores for great decorations to use.

Typically, there are favors given to the guests at a baby baptism reception. Follow this tradition and make sure to thank your guests with a small gift for coming to your baby's baptism which they can remember the occasion by. They'll appreciate it as much as you appreciate their having been there for this occasion.

It's not all that much work to plan a successful baby baptism reception; these tips can make sure that your reception will be an enjoyable one for your guests, memorable for all and will be a fitting celebration of this important day in your new child's life.
