Baby Boy Baby Bedding Hints

By Dorothea Frankson

Perhaps you're having a hard time determining a theme for you're precious little man's nursery. If you have not set up the baby's nursery yet, the best place to start is by choosing bedding and then using the bedding as a starting point to decide how to decorate the room. Here's a few ideas for those of you that aren't sure what kind of bedding theme you want to use.

As boys like strong and daring colors, this is an ideal place to begin purchase of baby bedding. Don't be afraid that it may be tacky - strong colors can be very fashionable. One of the best examples available is Trend Lab's brown and blue Prep School Blue baby bedding. The bedding incorporates a variety of colors including caramel, chocolate, blue, and white.

Animal motifs are good for either a boy 's or a girl's room with dinosaurs being more popular for boys while kittens are perfect for girls. Animal theme preferences differ between the genders as girls like cute, cuddly things while the boys prefer larger wild animals. For an infant boy a Noah's Ark theme is nice. If you want a theme that will grow with your son choose a jungle theme instead.

Young boys will become enamored with cowboys at some point. Cowboys make a wild and fun option for a theme. A Western theme is very popular and utilizes fabrics associated with cowboys such as denim and leather. In addition, you will notice many a times, that the images of sheriff's stars, horses, and wagons appear conspicuously in these crib bedding sets. In cowboy themes fleece and flannel are favorite fabrics for baby blankets.

Almost all men enjoy sports, including little boys. Baby boy's bedding is often team-specific, reflecting the favorite team and sport of Mom and Dad. Some can be more specific, with bedding sets that feature solely baseball, football, and soccer images. A general sports theme may be the right preference for your son to enjoy in his growing years, as you are unaware of his possible choice of team or sports as he grows in years.

You have an alternative for buying baby bedding, if you are preparing to have many children. Another option to finding a nursery theme that will grow with your son is to purchase gender neutral bedding that can be used for any future children. When a child reaches the toddler years and starts to have distinct ideas of their own, you will be able to choose a room theme then. If you are seeking neutral gender bedding for your little boy, you can always find exciting geometric patterns, alphabet themes and numbers, as well as popular cartoon characters like Winnie the Pooh.

You must consider numerous variables prior to buying baby bedding for boys. While lacy, detailed bedding sets may suit a baby boy, it won't be a good fit when the baby grows into a toddler or little boy. Many cribs now convert to toddler beds as they use the same standard size crib mattress. Keep this in mind when purchasing bedding as you will want it to last more than a few years.
