Keep Your Baby's Nursery Safe

By Dennis Kiefer

For a baby or small child, a nursery can be a microcosm of the world. It is in the nursery they are placed in order to be safe from harm. That is, they cannot wander nor can they get their hands on things that might prove harmful. Then again, that is the common plan that a parent may have when placing a child in a nursery.

Sometimes though,m it helps to have a guide, or even a checklist to make sure all precautions have been taken for the safety of your children. These tips will help you become more aware of some of the issues.

That means you must keep the nursery free of any baby nursery dcor that can get loose and be easily swallowed. The first thing is to be aware that not all decor is completely safe. There are some decorations that can come loose and easily become a choking hazard. Unfortunately this happens far too often.

Another risk is suffocation because of entanglement. Closing any gaps that are open to little fingers will usually take care of those problems. Test them all with your own fingers.

A great product that will make your own sleep easier is a wedge that prevents a baby from rolling about. They're inexpensive insurance. But please make sure you inspect it for defects.

If you make a precautionary inspection of any nursery decorations - new or used - you can always spot defects and potential dangers. Regardless of the style or look, if it's unsafe throw it out.

Buying a high quality audio or video monitor will help dramatically with your peace of mind as you sleep or go about your daily routine. You know you can quickly respond to anything that might be causing danger to your baby.

Decreasing the chances of your baby being hurt are simple but it takes a consistent vigilance. These simple steps will help that effort and increase the quality time you spend with your baby.
