Some Advice on Colic

By Lucille Green

Infants use crying as a means to communicate, and it is up to their parents to figure out what the baby is attempting to tell them. Some will over-react and think there is something wrong with the child, should this happen longer than usual. Some will even drive the newborn to the hospital only to find out that this is common. starting in the first three weeks until at latest the fourth month a baby could have colic which a physician will explain if symptoms happen. The moms and dads should focus on is how to make it stop even though there are assorted causes why this happens.

This can occur at any time of the day from early morning to late at night, and moms and dads should know this. This type of situation takes place because a baby has a completely different pattern than their parents. The main caregivers will sometimes find that their night time routine is more disturbed than usual, resulting in increased fatigue. A crying baby is not something to ignore, be sure someone gets up to see if there is something wrong. It can possibly be that the baby's diaper needs a changing or perhaps needs to be fed if this doesn't help the trouble, attempt holding the baby in your arms and sing a cradlesong this may possibly work.

One thing that parents should not forget to do after suckling is making the child burp, which is known to be one of the causes of colic. A change of scenery sometimes helps a baby and a walk outside or a ride in a car may be useful. Just as a warm bath can ease tension in adults, it is also helpful to sooth the baby with colic.

A warm bath can also help the intestinal colic baby cease crying, this is because the same thing works for adults who need an outlet to let the stress out. The temperature of the water should be checked before putting the newborn in since it could scald them. Distractions can help still a baby with intestinal colic so give them playthings and play soft music. The infant can get their much needed rest and the cost is not too much for these items.

Not only can the mother help alleviate intestinal colic by watching the child's food intake, but accessories, as well as tender love and care can be helpful as well. Since some food produces abdominal gas in the mother this is transmitted to the infant in the breast milk.

Knowing which products are right to eat can help this, but still if it doesn't work, giving Simethicone can be given under such specific circumstances. Raising a child will have its highs and lows - the colic stage is only the start of a lot of challenges that moms and dads will have to go through.
